I've always been a loner. This doesn't quite help for gaming. See, being Sonic mad for most of my child years, I managed to toy around with the 2 player myself. More playable in Sonic 3's case rather then 2, but hell, I had fun on my own, even if it wasn't exactly supposed to be played like that.
What a generation we live in now.
For the past few days (since the day I'm come back, no less) I've been having alot of gaming fun with my Xbox 360. Ontop of all the retro shit on Live Arcade, making me, once more, play Street Fighter 2 for 3 hours to finish an arcade mode on 7 stars (damn you, Sagat) just like the old days. Or play Pac-Man and be happy at the fact I'm ontop of my friends list when it comes to score. Playing a retro style new platformer (cloning clyde)which reminds me of Krustys Fun House (which I have fond memories of)and general retro happiness...
Till my friend poked me over for some Co-op on Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo.
Now, PDZ is annoying enough to do on single player. The level designs are nasty, it spits on what came before it (Goldeneye, PD) and well, has flaws all over the place. It has alot of good to great aspects about it too of course, its just a very random mix and match.
CO-OP as I've found, is alot of fun. Helping each other get through levels, living the pain together so the speak. We've done all of agent mode on co-op currently, and plan to do it on higher difficulties as well.
Today was unforgettable. We had tried yesterday (3 times) to get a A rank on Thorns Castle (Kameo). We knew that the achievement that it unlocks wouldn't even give us any points, but hot damn it was something to aim for. 6 more times today. We got B after B after B. The way the announcer shouts B! was hilarious. So with much laughing, crying and scheming on how to achieve a higher score with the next run (think of it as Streets Of Rage but with erm...more depth and in 3D and monsters) we achieved that A.
It was, as my friend put it "As if we just won the lotto".
Its not just co-op of course. The hilarites of Uno, mothers on Spades, Americans leaving games after I win a single round in Street Fighter. Smashing a friends car in Burnout...
There are frankly, alot of fun fun times ahead.
God bless CO-OP and Multiplayer of all forms on 360.
